Okay, we have now tried 2 ways, and neither worked very well. First we tried cooking it over the open fire in the husk. I rolled back the husk, coated it with olive oil, and rolled the husk back up as well as I could. Then we put it around the fire. It started out fine, but as it dried, the husk dried out, it started burning and opening up, and the result was that the corn burned.
So we tried taking the husk off, putting oil on it, some butter, and then wrapping in aluminum foil. This time we put it on the grate and turned it regularly. But it burned even worse.
So I am looking for suggestions on how to successfully cook corn on the cob over an open fire. Anyone have a thought?
