1 The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.
The earth and all the islands should rejoice and be glad the Lord reigns. Why? Because our Lord is good. He deals righteously with all. He is not partial, and does not play favorites. He is just in all His ways. There is never a moment that He does not love us, and do what is best for us. He is always loving, always kind, always merciful, always full of grace. Our God is the best thing that can happen to us. He is the joy in my heart, the peace that endures, the love that overcomes all faults. He fills me with hope for a wonderful future.
He reigns. There is no other god that can even approach Him without bowing. No other god that loves like Him. No other God that heals like Him. No other God that extends mercy and grace He reigns. As a mighty King on the throne, He rules over all the universe, which He created. The stars, sun and moon bow to Him. The clouds go where He directs them, and the birds sing praise to Him every day. This is just a small reason why the earth should rejoice and the isles should be glad. So should we!
2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.
3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.
4 His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.
5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
He lives in a place where righteousness and judgment surround Him. He is shrouded in glory, and He is always doing what is right and just. His enemies can not stand before Him, because a fire goes out before Him, a fire that burns the enemies of God. He throws His lightning and the world sees it. Even hills melt like wax.
We serve an awesome God. When you consider all these things, don’t you find it amazing that He would even think about us? I mean,, what am I? Just a collection of minerals and water, like the dust of the earth, put together to form a man. Yet He takes time to care for my needs. He listens to my prayers. He heals me when I am sick or in pain. His care for me is amazing Even though He has the whole universe bowing before Him, He still loves me. I will declare His glory, along with the heavens, so that others will see His glory.
7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.
8 Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughers of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O Lord.
9 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.
Those who serve other gods will be confounded. They think their gods are the highest gods, but they are not. All the other gods bow before our God. It is a mystery to all the idol worshipers. They just don’t get it. They think their god is the same god as ours is many cases. Or they think that their god is at least equal wit our God. But that is not true. Their is only one God most high, and that is the God of the Bible. He is high above all the earth, and exalted above all other gods
10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
If we love the Lord, we should hate evil. Is there any evil that you still enjoy? Remember, evil would be anything that goes against Gods word, or would cause us to sin. Is there anything in your life that fits that description? get rid of it now. God will deliver you from those wicked thoughts and ways if you will let go of them. Then He will preserve our souls.
When we walk ii righteousness, light will guide our path. The Psalms say the word is a lamp for our feet. The word guides through the muck and mire of this world so we can walk with God and not the darkness that’s herein this world. When we live according to the word, He will give us a light to always guide our path. And He will fill our hearts with Gladness if we remain upright in heart. We can rejoice in our God, and we should!
