Praise Him

Psalm 117

O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people.

For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the Lord endureth for ever. Praise ye the Lord.

The shortest verse in the bible carries a big message.  We are all told to praise the Lord.  God created us, way back in Genesis, to have fellowship with Him.  He would come down to the garden during the day to walk with Adam and Eve.  One day He came down and found Adam and Eve hiding from God.  They had eaten of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil, and now new that they were naked, and were ashamed.  Ever since that day, the human body has caused man more trouble then anything else.  We lust after it, we can get sick or injured, we pamper it, we feed and nurture it – all for the sake of trying to be our best in this world.  If only we would learn that all God wants s our praise.  None of the rest matters to Him.  So praise Him!

After all, look at the mercy and kindness He has shown to you.  Even if you are not a Christian, hasn’t He sent the rain in due season?  Hasn’t He given you the sun during the day and the stars at night?  Hasn’t He provided food on this earth that will sustain you?  Hasn’t He plucked you fro deaths hands a couple times?  has.  His mercy and kindness extends to all on this earth.  But if we accept the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, then His mercy and kindness are multiplied to us.  Our sin is forgiven and forgotten.  The stripes placed on His back bring us healing.  He was chastised and beaten so we would have His peace.  The Holy Spirit fills us with the fruit of the spirit, and also offers us the gifts of the spirit.  His mercy provides these things even though we don’t deserve them.  His kindness comforts us in times of worry, shields us from trouble, is a fortress and a refuge when we need a place to escape to, and so much more.

There is a lot of talk in the news today about the truth.  It is hard to decipher what is true and what is not.  Less than half the people trust the media to tell the truth, and even less think truth comes from the government.  It is creating an atmosphere of confusion everywhere.  But God’s truth never changes.  His truth will endure forever.  We can depend on this fact.  There’s no false truth or fake news with God.  We can trust that God will always be on the side of truth.

Let’s praise Him.  Let’s lift our voices, our hands and our hearts up to God and give Him all the praise there is in our beings.  He deserves it!

    1. It might be more accurate to say that I’ve been studying alongside Pete. 😊 He keeps me accountable by posting here, pretty much. With each Psalm Pete posts here, I study and meditate on it; and I love reading his thoughts on each one of them. 🙂 (Keep up the great work, Pete! ♥)
