From The Housetops

Psalm 98

O sing unto the Lord a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

The Lord hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.

He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

I would love to list down all  the marvelous things God has done for me, but that list would be so long, I would probably  crash the WordPress server!  The sheer volume of blessings He has put in my life can not be contained by a list.  From my very innermost being, a song spills out of my belly, through my heart, and out my lips as I sing a new song unto the Lord.  I may use intelligible words that you can understand, or it may be groaning that cannot be uttered.  In any case, it is a new song of praise unto my God.  He is worthy of any song of praise that leaves my lips.  My day is filled with praising Him because of what He has so graciously done for me.  He has won the victory for me with one hand – His mighty right hand, and now I can walk in victory every day.

He has also made known His salvation.  he took a sinner like me, hooked on drugs and alcohol, and transformed me into a vessel of honor for Him.  He chose me to preach His word, and now to write songs of praise and comfort.  I do not know why he chose me, but He did,, and I am so glad that He remembered His mercy and truth toward me.  I deserved hell for all I had done to scorn Him and blaspheme His name.  I deserved judgment for my sin, and He gave me mercy.  Mercy that extended far beyond what I would ever have asked for.  Mercy that stills covers me today when I fall short.  Overwhelming mercy.  What an awesome God we serve.

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm.

With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the Lord, the King.

I will loft a joyful, loud noise, not a wimpy little whisper.  I liken it to your favorite sports team.  Let’s say t’s baseball, and your son is in the batters box.  The score is 7-4 in the bottom of the ninth,,you’re team is losing.  But the pitcher has loaded the bases, and your son is digging in at the plate, ready for the pitch.  First pitch a caked strike, than he fouls ff a couple balls and it’s an 0-2 count.  You sit in the stands  just hoping he can make contact.  The pitcher winds up, the ball comes whistling in toward the plate.  The bat comes around and  “Crack” it hits.  The ball heads to the fences and it’s gone!  Grand slam!  Your son just won the game!  I suppose you  would sit there and quietly say “That was nice”.  NO WAY!  You would be up cheering and shouting and so proud and happy and full of joy!

Jesus has won the ultimate battle.  He has defeated sin and death on our behalf.  There is no greater victory and man ever had or  will have.  We should be shouting His praises from the housetops, from the mountains, from our desks,  production line, or work place.  There is never a time when His praise should be missing from our spirit.  The band should be assembled to give Him praise because He is worthy

Let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

Let the floods clap their hands: let the hills be joyful together

Before the Lord; for he cometh to judge the earth: with righteousness shall he judge the world, and the people with equity.

All of creation praises Him, why should we be any exception.  The sea, the floods and the hills are mentioned here as praising God.  We here the birds every morning and evening giving Him praise.  Is your pride keeping you from praising Him with a joyful exuberant heart?  Afraid someone will see you or hear you and laugh, or make fun.  Put your pride aside and allow God to do a worship work in your heart today.
